Who we are
Blackletter is a trading name of The Selfish Chef Ltd, registered in England and Wales, company no. 16350471, registered office 71 Wentworth Road, Birmingham, B17 9SS. The Selfish Chef Ltd is the data controller for anything described on this page. You can reach us about any of it at brief@theblackletter.co.uk.
What we hold
If you subscribe to the Brief, we hold three things: the email address you gave us, the date and time you subscribed, and the page you subscribed from. That is the complete list.
The website itself sets no cookies and runs no analytics or tracking of any kind. If you never subscribe, we hold nothing about you at all.
Why we hold it
One purpose: to send you the weekly Brief you asked for. The lawful basis is your consent, given when you subscribed. We do not sell the list, share it for marketing, enrich it, or use it for anything besides sending the Brief. Every issue includes a way to unsubscribe; when you do, we stop immediately.
Where it lives
The list is stored with Supabase in their London (UK) region. Emails are sent through Resend from their Ireland (EU) region. The website is hosted by Vercel. Each of these companies processes the data only on our instructions, as our data processors. Your address does not leave that chain.
Your rights
UK data protection law gives you the right to see what we hold about you, to correct it, to have it deleted, and to object to how it is used. For us the practical version is simple: email brief@theblackletter.co.uk and we will show you, fix it, or delete it, usually the same day. When you unsubscribe we stop sending immediately and mark your address so it is never emailed again; if you would rather it were deleted entirely, say so and it will be.
If you think we have handled your data badly, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk. We would appreciate the chance to put it right first.
